what about the path the club is? on?
January 20th, 2012 at 8:54 pm
Here’s a thought… everyones wrong! There are numerous things you can do to slice/fade a golf ball. For instance, even if your club face is closed and you have good position at the top of your swing, if you initiate the down swing with your upper body you can cut across the ball creating a slice. The video? points out one way to fix slice, it doesnt claim to fix everything.

@Threadonaspool
Sorry, you are wrong. The top of your backswing has nothing whatsoever to do with impact.
(Unless, however you play “dead-handed”).
You can have a severely closed clubface at the top of the backswing, yet still? hit shanks & slices.
People are looking in the wrong places for good golf.
Yourself included.

@martinavizcomm There is a reason for being out of position? at impact my friend and it usually has to do with your position at the top of the backswing.

@TheNYgolfer
So according to Kelly, the hitter has no club face rotation, or horizontal hinging?
If that is the case, then the wrist cock of the hitter is through left wrist bowing (flexion), rather than radial deviation plus pronation? I can see how this works, keeps the right palm normal to the downswing plane, but I don’t? think most could get more that 70-80 degrees of lag.

@Threadonaspool
“Out of position at the top of your backswing”?????
WTF???
More like “out? of position at impact”.
The ONLY reason why a golfer slices the ball is because the clubface is OPEN at impact.
Period.

@shortgamebull the longer you keep it open and extend at the bottom and release as close to the? ball as possible and keep it square, you get more clubhead speed

Slicers forget this. The guys a good teacher no doubt, but sometimes good teachers can still teach the wrong approaches when fixing problems. If youre slicing the ball and you already have a good solid grip, youre either not loose enough over the ball or you are out of position at the? top of your backswing. Probably the later!!
January 21st, 2012 at 1:12 am
@silowhore a combination of both is what makes? a slice

This guy is correct. The golf swing is not called a “swing” for nothing. It should never be thought of? as HITTING. The relatively slow movement of an arm activates a bull whip and by the time that energy reaches the tip the sound barrier has broken – SNAP! By the time your hands reach the bottom, the club-heads is releasing and moving much faster than your hands, think about it. THIS WHY THE PROS OFTEN LOOK SO EFFORTLESS. This demonstration is the key to club-head speed. Practice = Accuracy.

@izzy0210? only if other variables are present like grip, pivot.

The Golfing Machine calls this- releasing the #3 power accumulator. It not only squares the clubface but actually adds power to the swing.It is a feeling of smoothly ‘rolling” the wrists NOT flipping them.This technique is for a “swinger” who utilizes centrifugal force to release? the club.If you are a hitter (player who gets his power from the straightening of the right elbow to release the club instead of centrifugal force) this rolling technique is the kiss of death.

thanks for this vid… it really helps me? learn something new! I have tried to play golf also you may see it in my channel for other tricks..
January 21st, 2012 at 4:15 am
all true but i would tend? to say, most amateurs slice because they hit over the top due to starting the swing with the arms and shoulders

this is gold for the? beginning golfer… love it!

Great tutorial.? Thank you.

@izzy0210 NO! big minception? in golf
January 21st, 2012 at 5:25 am
This is a wonderful tutorial. Most high handicaps do not understand how much the hands work in the golf swing. It is a great source of power. This is? not flipping, it is rotating. BIG DIFFERENCE. Wonderful tutorial.

@izzy0210? I thought the same thing when i saw this.

A large part of the? swing that is rarely mentioned that contributes greatly to the slice is grip pressure.
